Information about WW2 soldier

Both my granddads fought in WW2, one was posted in Burma but the other (who I never knew) did something else which left him traumatised... I only have this one photo of him during that period but have not been able to identify much from the photo. The rumour is that he enlisted below age with a different name...but this could be a myth! Many thanks for any help.

The photo is just too small to be sure about the cap badge and formation sign. Sorry.
