Default photo relative in Boer War

Hi everyone, I have spent the afternoon digitally restoring this damaged little picture of my great great uncle, Harry Pattle, during his service in the Anglo Boer War (1899-1902). It is interesting to see that he is not in uniform but none-the-less equiped for action (with a bandoleer and Long Lee Enfield). To the best of my families knowledge this is the only known picture of him and as its an interesting picture, I thought I would restore it digitally, make a new print and frame it. The original print is only 10cm tall and very difficult to see.

If his unit was a long way from the supply chain then they may have been replacing clothing with whatever they could find?

Great restoration! Your photoshop skills are as good as your own pictures!

Was he Boer and not British perhaps? They did not have 'uniforms' as such.

Thanks for the comments. He was most definitely a British soldier and not a Boer.
