    Not sure on that Martin, it was a long time back, but I think many people will not have the service number. See what the forms ask you for.

    Third option down, that must have been the one I first looked at, service number is required

    Strange as on the link page they say they will give you the service number on the list of things they can supply!

    It says service number AND/OR date of birth is required, not both, so if you know when he was born you should be OK.

    Sorry mate you may be right !! I have not read the entire webpage ! I spend my entire life it seems looking at computer screens ! haha so I was lazy and simply scrolled down quickly to the Apply for Service personnel service records, you can view all the appliacations available

    Did your fathers records come with a mug shot, i managed to get both my grandfathers records and its great to see a photo of them when they joined

    Hi Paul, no mug shot with his records, just the two I posted above in the desert, and they were left to me when he passed away.

    53rd Welsh Divisional Signals (TA)
    3rd STC (Signals Training Course?)
    3rd Holding Battalion
    36 construction Section?
    Then he was sent to Malaya but was diverted to Egypt
    MEF (med expeditionary force) GHQ Inps?
    MEF N Linesman section
    MEF 73rd Heavy AA Regiment
    MEF 7th GOR (not sure on this, Gun Ops room was suggested)
    MEF 3 AA 6/20 Room 3/8
    EMBarked + SOS (sent off strength) MEF to CMF (central med force)
    BNAF (British North Africa Force) 48 AA Ops Room
    CMF 16th L of C Sigs (Line of Communications Signals)
    1 L of C Sigs
