M4/79 Hillenbrand & Bröer also stamped the HJ buckles with RZM 4/79 - no 'M'

So with other words, you could be warned and suspended for having a maker mark that looked like crap or was not right done?
The Reichszeugmeisterei ( RZM ) had set forth the protocol...

A first for me Markus but I think the buckle is original but the markings have me confused. I do like Wims theory but again who knows. A nice and interesting enigma buckle IMO

You could be suspended for many things. The RZM controllers looked for quality!

That's why so many buckle makers lost their permission throught the years.
We all know the M4-list, but no one ever listed those loosing their permission.
Over 30 it was! Only a few did get back their old number/permission. Just a few!

After the publishing of the RZM-handbook in 1935 already some did loose
    their permission: 5, 8, 9 17, 21, 31, 50, which was Willy Thuy (fakes are known
    from this concern).
