    My parents just bought this for me to contribute to my collection. I was trying to do a bit of research on the marks but saw a few sites that said their was a possibility of it being real, so I thought I'd turn to you all.

    It's marked: Otto Hoffmann Ges Gesch

    Sorry to say that these Otto Hoffman marked badges are widely accepted as fakes. I'm not a metal insignia collector but this maker was known to make only cloth insignia from the period reference I have seen, not metal. Do a search here under the name Otto Hoffman to find more information.

    Thank you for the information, I'm not too knowledgable on pins right now. I at least appreciate the thought that went into the purchase.

    Here's a rule to go by: Anytime you see the pin-plate in the shape of a coffin (such as here)...it's no good.
