    Default HJ Bugle?

    Guys,

Can't remember if I put this on?

    I'm loosing it!

Not sure what it is but it looks right and has some age. I cleaned it a bit as its only brass and what looks like nickle silver.
Its a bit tired in places but you can still get a note out of it. I can't free the mouth peice off so I think I will just leave it.

The eagle is HJ early? I'm not sure?

    Cheers for any info.

Hi Jock, you are 100% correct, it is an HJ bugle.

    It is a nice item.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Cheers Ade,

I got confused with the eagle which you see on Farming type stuff, 'Blood and Earth' etc. It came with a bigger brother, the long one that normaly has the banner on but it has no markings.

Default Re: HJ Bugle? plus a bigger one!

    Guys,

As stated here is big brother.

They were bought from the same guy at the same time and were in similar condition. So I'm hoping that it is right but as always expecting the worst.

I am guilty of the crime of cleaning it but as I recon with brass it will soon be dirty again.

It has no markings and a bit of damage where a bit is missing near the mouthpiece end (see photo) and it looks like someone has tried a repair at some time.

It is a bit long and the bic pen is for scale.

It looks like a quality item but I don't know about musical instruments. They always look well made to me from any era?

    Any thoughts gratefully received.

Jock - The larger trumpet is called a "Fanfare" and was used by most political organizations i.e. HJ,SA,NSKK etc. The one you show looks O.K., these were not normally marked as the smaller ones with Organization emblems.
Great catch , now you need a trumpet(fanfare) banner to tie on it.
