Please help ID this German triangular flag

Hi!

This belonged to a relative and has been locked away for many years.

Was wondering if anyone could tell the exact origins of this flag and what the writings on the side could actually mean? I know they're places.

It's a flag taken off a vehicle, right?

im not an expert about such WW2 items but i can tell you for sure, those writings are names of German Towns !

Yes, I wonder what such a flag was used for i.e. what type of vehicle (if a vehicle at all) and perhaps why those town names are on there.

I think its a flag used by hitler youth or BDM and it sticks in top of a tent. The written words a all german cities and according my records in all these cities it was an annual meeting. So they write their attendance on the flag.

it is a tent flag for a hj lager (camp) this is sometimes seen on food tents or information tents as sometimes ther where meetings of different citys for sport games or adventure holydays of some sort then they addet all citys who meet there on a flag, nice flag

i dont think ther are many of them but rare is always a hard word, i can not put it in any value but not big money if you mean this, still a nice item and i guess i have to find one for my self
