Early HJ Dolch with Motto by Ed. Wusthof

Today arrived this great early HJ dagger!
Its the no ricasso type with the thin blade, the motto is nicely etched.
The scabbard springs to hold the knife still have the original cotton on them!
The leather of the hanger is marked on the back with L S with a oakleave in between.
The grip is great and the diamond is of course the nice small early type! and is completely undamaged!
Scabbard has a lot of its original paint.

I never seen the L (oak leaf) S before. Do you know what the cause of this was? Very nice, early HJ dagger. Congrats

There´s the HJ-Leader´s dagger, (Führerdolch der Hitlerjugend), on the other hand, the Fahrtenmesser of the Hitlerjugend, as shown in this particular thread !

Correct, which would translate to sheath knife/ dagger of the hitler youth. So wouldn't HJ dagger be correct? You wrote this is NOT a HJ-dagger? If a Führerdolch der Hitlerjugend is a HJ leader dagger as you say, wouldn't a Fahrtenmesser of the Hitlerjugend be a HJ dagger?

Terminology.........Out of habit, I've always call these 'daggers' too,
but Reibert is correct - a 'Fahrtenmesser' is the proper name !

An 'HJ Leaders' dagger is an actual dagger.........
