Hi hj messer by Carl Heidelberg not In a Great condition what do you think to the diamond.
Thanks
Early Carl Heidelburg HJ Knife..the red painted diamonds are a later variant..and are accepted in the Collecting community..but not seen on early HJs.
The forums top HJ researcher Mac 66 has created a thread which is pinned at the top of the HJ forum..regarding these diamonds. Please give a read through and post your thoughts.
Hitler Youth Knife Diamond Variations From 1933-1942
Mac and the other HJ Gents will be along to offer further comments.

Hi thanks yeah so this should have had a 23 x 13 and not that 25 x 14 diamond that’s in it as this was only fitted after July 17, 1937. This would also explain the lack of float in the diamond and the damage/marks on the grip around the diamond so this was an red painted clear enamel diamond.
Thanks
Upon closer inspection and thankyou for the extra photo to enlarge..i would say that this diamond has been added due to the stress seen on the checkered grip plates surrounding the diamond inset space.
The white has been haphazardly painted onto the diamond. This Knife has been messed with IMO

Pureg60, well observed. You've answered your own question. Someone's "messed with the messer". These knives can be found in a wide range of condition and price. Depends what you want and are prepared to pay for. If the price was realistic then this is a entry level HJ for someone on a budget.
IMO, And not a knife / dagger guy.. The pictures that are presented express a knife of "Lower Worthiness" as far as collector concern for "Great Condition" if this were graded what would be the outcome ?? Happy New Year.. G
