Hi Ralph. I agree, it does appear that way (I thought the same thing), but what about the bayonet as a whole? I don't want to focus too much on the rivets if the rest of the bayonet looks solid.
If the rivets are messed with, it is not worth whatever they are asking.

Hi guys. For grins I thought I'd post these new photos provided by the owner. They're much cleaner and clearer than the originals. I don't expect the outcome to be any different, I just thought I'd post them for the record...

The new photos are not any more in focus but, now I dislike the fit of the blade to guard and you can see the grinding or sanding on the handle slabs. Not for me.

The insignia is on the backside of the bayonet that was worn against the torso. Bad fake. I have never heard of a HJ fireman's bayonet and believe it to be a fantasy.

Thanks for the feedback guys. As I mentioned, I didn't expect the new photos to change the facts, just wanted to uploaded them since the owner sent them my way. Thought it would be nice (either way) to provide cleaner photos.

The added swastika engraved on the blade makes me nervous on this one
What would you know about victory? I killed a she-wolf in her den, armed with only a knife. I escaped the Caughnawaga Indians who sought to burn me alive. And, I was the sole survivor of a shipwreck at the Battle of Havana. So you'll excuse me if I choose not to follow your advice." ―Israel Putnam speaking to a Continental Army officer at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
