HJ Youth Knife CARL WUSTHOF REAL or FANTASY
I have never seen one of these Ever.
There are some things I like about this knife and things I do not.
    Quality is top notch
    Patina is good
I have never seen anything like this which makes me think it’s a fantasy piece (albeit beautifully made).
Lottsa why’s with this knife. Rally?

Scabbard does not have front rivet

If this is a fantasy piece and my gut tells me it may be.
How old do you think it is and who may have made it as the quality is all there?

    Thanks guys

    Bill

I have moved your thread to the Hitler Jugend section of the Daggers and Swords of the 3rd Reich Forum. I have seen one other piece identical to this. It came in at a mptel buy back in the early 80's. It was brought in with several other common daggers by the widow of a veteran who brought them back. At the time, she wanted $500 each but I had to buy the lot which included a RZM SA woth $50 at the time and a Heer and Luftwaffe 2nd model which were about $125.00 each at the time. Unfortunately, they walked. I was told later that this is a special HJ honor knife. I have no doubt it was period made as this was over 30 years ago. I hope other dagger specialists can give you more information.

I have seen this hilttype before and they have made these types of daggers in a few different ways.
I am tho a bit surprised to see this SS motto etch on it, cant recall to have seen that before.
I will post pics of the other similar knives when im home from the office.
    I like it

    Ger

    ps: sell it to me

    Hi Bill,

Hitler Youth Honour Knife/bayonet to be precise !

Pretty rare to scarce these knifes & this one has an upgrade with Stag griplates !

See here a good thread on these knifes > GD.com: HJ Knife with Etched Blade Carl Wusthof Gladiator - GermanDaggers.com

The 1st time I ever ran into one of these, it had a wooden grip and Runes on the hilt and the SS motto. First impression was, that they scream total fantasy stuff, but in reality, they are authentic and heinously Rare pieces. There are all sorts of different types of these knives and all made by Ed Wusthof. I've never owned one. You've got a Tough knife to find, Bill! If you put it up for sale, you should have quite an interesting bit of bidding on it!

Ive looked into my reference books and saw a few different style hilts: with SS runes, with a flag, with the diamond, with and without a motto, and mostly plain blades with no maker or the Wusthof, gladiator blades.

This etch like yours is the most common on these rare early knives!
I cant post pics all are in private collctions, but John Merling has a few nice ones.
    Thx for showing this one.
