There is a name on it, and for me the name sound like a norwegian name
    The name is "Ervin Frellesen"...
I hope some of the norwegians here can help me to confirm that it is a norwegian name...
And maybe help me with some information about the former owner ???

Nothing particularly Norwegian about that name as far as I know, could just as well be Danish...

Thanks for the answer, slados28, but there is only 20 persons with this last name in Denmark...
And Ervin is not a normal danish name...
And in my lists of danish volunteers and partymembers there is no one with this name.....
    For me it sounded norwegian...
But it was maybe just a wild guess

It's entirely possible of course, it's just not a typically Norwegian name. Are you sure it's Ervin and not Erwin? Also, I think Frellesen could be a German surname as well...

Hi Sandsam,, Our member Gerrit knows that area well and can help you with the name ID. Can you post a few more photos of the knife to see who the maker is and a close up of the HJ diamond? Regards Larry

    Thx larry

but im Dutch not Danish, LOL
I am wondering what the outcome was in 2004 when the HJ knife was posted with the same question on wehrmacht-awards.

I think you just digging to deep....Germany had a lot of immigrants in the 19ths century.
It just could be a norwegian or danish family that moved to Germany and found a job in a factory, or on the shipyards of Kiel, there was a lot of work at the end of the 19th century.
After being perhaps 30 or 40 years in Germany his sons would have joined the HJ no doubt on that.

    Cheers Ger

To me the name looks as Erwin and Frellesen is a name one can find
in Germany. Have a look at Google. For me it is just German and has
nothing to do with Denmark or Norway!
Erwin Frellesen was also the name as mentioned at WAF in 2004.
