My thoughts would be; the grip, diamond and scabbard in VG condition while the blade is only fair. How often we see this with HJ knives, where graying of the blade and rust has attacked the blade. The question is why hasn't the scabbard protected the blade? In contrast how often have we seen a rusty combat K98 and with rusty scabbard, but open it up to find a perfect blade, blued and unrusted. So is the problem poor quality scabbard design for the HJ, or is the steel inferior? Or is it evidence of post war gardening use?
