Richard, these are impressive buckles, I only have a few, as I bought them to complete uniform/tunic setups, I should really specialise, but I still collect on a broad front !

Hi Chaps, I've picked up another Saxon buckle. 2 in a week!! So here is. It's unit marked CV 100. I'm sure it's for the 100R (1st (Leib) Grenadier Regt.); but I'm not sure what the CV monogram signifies. Anybody know? Compared to other buckles it look like an unmarked G.H. Osang. It's the only one I have with the hook fixing, long ears & it's slightly longer in the body than the standard 1895. I feel these date from closer to 1895 than 1914,

Richard, great looking buckle...re/the monogram, I thought at first, regimentle cypher, but having checked JR100's it is not ''CV'' OR ''VC'', I also checked official regimentals (the official markings regs) there is no ''C'' on its own and ''V'' is for ''Versuchs'' (Trials/testing) , so again a negative...lets see if anyone else is in the know.

Can't help with the markings....but I have to say that I love the buckle construction. Not a common way to manfucture these buckles. I agree that it would probably be early manufacture. 2 in a week! That's a great score!

Hi Chaps, as I try to do with my unit marked buckles, here's a postcard of the 100R to go with the above. It's stamped on the back 1.Ers.Batl.Leib-Gren.-Regt.100 (1st Saxon Life Guards). As the chaps are from a Ersatz battalion they are not wearing the collar Litzen worn by the regular 100R. Except for the decorated officer & NCO in the front row. Also of interest are the Ersatz bayonets being used & the 2 sitting soldiers have been issued with captured Russian Mosin Nagant rifles, Cheers, Richard.
