    Very nice buckle, Richard... I saw this one on ebay as well but completely neglected to see the maker mark. Any ideas yet on who JAD was? I had also not seen one of these with this black paint before. Again, very nice

    koppel71, outstanding rare buckle ! thanks for showing.....I must get some more buckles in my collection, in the past ive only bought them as complete belt and buckle sets to complete mannaquin displays.

    A great piece! I have one but without the tab. A rare example and testmony to continued use of brown leather despite the late 1915 order to dye leather black.

    Hi Habicht, I don't think tabs were ever blackened as when they were being worn they couldn't be seen. Also dying would have added to production costs. It was cheaper to leave the leather natural coloured, Cheers, Richard.
