Imperial German Buckles.

Article about: Next, 3 buckles with identical bodies but with different makers/sellers on the tabs. This design is by far my favourite. Really classy feel IMO. Each buckle is finished differently, one galv

I've never seen one before. It'll be interesting to see what others think.

Hello everyone. Now, having read through all 36 pages of this thread, I'm pretty sure that I have an original unmarked late war M1916 buckle in decent shape--a little rust in spots, but almost all of the gray/green paint is intact. I paid $15US for it at an estate sale today. Did I do O.K.? I can't seem to figure out how to post pictures (any help will be much appreciated). Thanks, Al Hirschler in Dallas.

Hi Al, very nice late war original M16 buckle. They are quite common; but not at the price you paid!! A great find cheers, Richard.

Thanks! Two questions-- (1) Do I leave it as is, or (shudder) do I try to clean off some of the rust; and (2) To document it in my data base, what should I put down as a value? Thanks again, Al in Dallas.

I have several German buckle books, but how can you tell this is a late war style?
I have assumed the "C" shapedcatch is earlier, but I don't think it is a universal and accurate way of dating.
    Thanks for any help!
