Article about: Next, 3 buckles with identical bodies but with different makers/sellers on the tabs. This design is by far my favourite. Really classy feel IMO. Each buckle is finished differently, one galv

Great buckles! And I like the postcard showing the '47 buckle. Great markings on that last one....not sure of the maker - but I'm comfortable saying the '17 represents the year of manufacture.
    Thanks for showing!

Thanks Rob, glad you like them. Hope to post my Bavarian tomorrow. I to am confident the year of manufacture is 1917, Cheers, Richard.

    Great thread Richard.
I'm not a buckle guy. In fact, I've never really taken a second look
at a buckle. But I find this interesting.----adding the photos is a nice touch.

    Nicely done.

Not to worry. I can barry afford my crosses. I surely can't
afford to branch out in a new direction.

Hi Chaps, here's my Bavarian buckles. First up an 1895 pattern made by H. Muller & Co, Offenbach a.m., 1914,

    Cheers,

    Richard.

Next up a couple 1895 varients. The top one is marked D.R.G.M. & has different style bar, prongs & buckle hook catch. Presumably a wartime economy to avoid braising the parts.
The bottom one is a really battered; but with a nice 'been there' feel.

Next another wartime economy buckle. Two part; but of an all brass construction.

Next a 'parade' version with a roller bar. This one is marked D.R.G.M.172088 & still has there remains of the blue felt backed parade belt attached.

Next an all steel 1916 pattern without markings. I've included a postcard of Bavarian troops (possibly Alpine Corps) wearing this pattern in 1917. The bit I can read says, "sending the last greetings from Neu-Ulm before we leave for the field. Probably Romania".
