Imperial German Buckles.

Article about: Next, 3 buckles with identical bodies but with different makers/sellers on the tabs. This design is by far my favourite. Really classy feel IMO. Each buckle is finished differently, one galv

    Greetings Gentlemen,

I have a new addition to the Buckle collection; steel body with an applied Roundel. I'm not sure if it's a pewter or not and as you can see on the inside of the buckle, there is some rusting. I've tried to clean as much as I can by rubbing with a cloth that has WD40 on it (questionable?) any suggestions on cleaning it better? I don't want it to rust more.

And after taking these photos, I noticed that there a lot of dust on some of my collection. It seems I've been neglecting it too long

Hi AntonEbans, yeah that is a pewter roundel circa 1915. Keep going at the rust as you have been. That should do the trick; but if doesn't use some of the finest wire wool you can find Extra Fine 0000-000 grade I think they call it; but take it easy, Cheers, Richard.

Hi maxrsx, it's a very late war original buckle. They are often found in mint condition as they were so late in the war they weren't issued. Have a look at this link : - World War One German Army EM/NCO's Belt Buckle in Original Tissue

    Cheers,

    Richard.

I also thought of it that it not given out , but coloring belt buckle ( post sleeve) to places is absent and white metal is visible though should be a rust
