Imperial German Buckles.

Article about: Next, 3 buckles with identical bodies but with different makers/sellers on the tabs. This design is by far my favourite. Really classy feel IMO. Each buckle is finished differently, one galv

I don't have it in hand yet. I'll test that when I do.

But does it look good otherwise?

It looks like a classic pewter Saxon of 1915, no problems with it. Have a look back in the thread for mine. I've not seen a painted one before; but I'm sure it's original & logical they would do that. It may be a steel body with a pewter roundel. The pewter bodies were weak & the metal tore, so it seems they used up the roundels on steel bodies. Be interesting to see what its like when you get it.

Turns out the roundel is magnetic too, so its completely steel.

This prong set-up was not used before 1916, so this can't be correct.

Yes this prong set-up was not used before 1916. I repeat the missing detail I made myself (catch, prongs, post sleeve).
