Article about: Next, 3 buckles with identical bodies but with different makers/sellers on the tabs. This design is by far my favourite. Really classy feel IMO. Each buckle is finished differently, one galv

If so, is there a makers mark on yours? This does not appear to have any mark.Attachment 405863Attachment 405864Attachment 405865Attachment 405866
Out of the millions of WW1 buckles produced in comparison to the numbers made not many of buckles actually were maker marked, you will find more buckles from this period had their own unit marked stamped onto them that makers marks.

Here is a better photo that shows the color of the paint and the shine of the roundel.
Hi, it's difficult to tell from the photos if it's pewter. Handling it is the best way to check, Cheers, Richard.

    Hey!
This Buckle says "FURCHTOS UND TREW"
Does anybody know why it doensn't say "treu" instead of "trew", as "treu" is the actual word for loyal/faithful.
The word "trew" doesn't even exist in German (nowadays).

    cheers,
    0.S.

Hi Chaps, here's a couple that are in the post. First up a pretty standard 1916 dated steel Prussian.

What makes it rare is the ink stamp 'J.R.17.M.G.' signifying a machine gun unit in Infanterie-Regiment Graf Barfuss (4.Westfalisches) Nr. 17. Ink stamps are not often seen on tabs,

    Cheers,

    Richard.
