Imperial German Buckles.

Article about: Next, 3 buckles with identical bodies but with different makers/sellers on the tabs. This design is by far my favourite. Really classy feel IMO. Each buckle is finished differently, one galv

    Hello,
another very interesting transitional buckle of the beginning of WW1

This two piece example is slightly different of the first one, as the medaillon seems to be made of brass instead of the more usual nickel silver, considering the brown colour of the patina of this medaillon

Maybe a cost saving measure as brass is cheaper than nickel silver and it will not be visible after the painting process

Paint on roller bar, but appears there is rust pockets under paint, to me, this is bad. Also, if never used, why rust under paint? Lastly, buckle is not used- there is usually wear marks around the catch where the belt hook rubs when donning, and removing the belt. Also, appears to be not belt wear on inside top and bottom of buckle which comes from the belt moving back and forth. I have seen Reichwehr nickle silver Assermann buckles where the inside pebbling is worn smooth form belt rub, so there should be more wear marks on the back of this buckle.

Buckle painted (TODAY) recently and under a thick layer of paint wear is not visible.

Just got this in, I quite like it... belt marked up to 8 Fd AR, presuming the 8th Field Artillery Regiment? I also like it as I clocked a few indentations on the leather and I'm convinced I know what they are....

    Cheers,
    Lenny
