Have never seen a belt buckle of this design before. It's eerily reminiscent of a design on my great grandfather's tunic buttons, although he was in the British Army. This may very well turn out to be an original piece, but of pre- or postwar origin. It certainly has age and wear to it, as does the leather keeper.
