Does anyone want to give an opinion....please.
I like it D, possible private purchase, some of these pongs I have seen on early SS buckles and various others
Ben
Thanks Ben, I was unsure of it and because I don't collect such things am wanting to move it on but don't want to sell/exchange is as original if its not.
All the best,
D
Can I see the other side of the prongs D
Ben
Hi Ben,
Here's 2 more pictures of the prongs as requested. I just don't like it but will go with your opinion as you know your buckles.
D
Let me look into this one D, dont like the end of the prongs to be honest, I need to look at other examples
Ben
I wouldn't expect to see those prongs on a M16 steel Prussian. The prongs themself I'm ok with, but I would say they have been replaced, as they are more typical of an M95. The prong shroud should have a seam in it, not always easy to see though..
So D, in all, we agree on the buckle box being original, its just the prongs and if they are original to the buckle or replacements
Ben
The buckle looks original. I don't recall ever seeing a steel buckle with brass prongs. At the start of the war with the massive amount of men entering the Army I could see companies using up old stock to meet demands.
