Hello Gentlemen! I've been after one of these for a long time!!! Finally was able to find one and she landed today! What a great piece!! For you buckle guys - I think you all know that these are not the easiest to find - especially in pre-1916 brass!
A ww1 telegraph buckle made of brass....therefore used up to 1916 (afterwards they made them in steel).
A small dent in the roundel. Great patina and nice weight to it as well.
It's been a long time coming.

A very hard ww1 buckle to find....I'm psyched so I thought I would post some pics!
    Cheers!

I'm not a buckle guy but I can see why you would want to
add this variation to your collection.

Hi Rob, nice one mate. Great buckle. Here's mine to compare : - https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/imper...ckles-10285-7/

There's fakes of these around; but they are easy to spot as they 2 extra reinforcing plates on the back of the telegraph wire frame loops. Because of the extra plates the fakes don't fit snuggly to a belt. The originals just have the rivets. There are fakes in both brass & steel. The fakes also have a odd looking crown.

    Cheers,

    Richard.

Hey Rich! Glad you like it! Yours is also a very nice example! Yes, you nailed it with the "plates" under the frame loops....another giveaway is that most of the repros lack detail and don't have "ears" holding the prong bar like originals do!

    Cheers!

Default The fakers are making me gun shy... do you like this one?

I'm always a bit gun shy when it comes to the hard to find one's.
Especially as it's not the only thing I collect.

What are your thoughts on this one?
I would love to have your oranyones input.

    Cheers
