    To expand on the earlier theme it seemed a shame to leave out the officers....

    another quick look....officer caps 1871 to 1919


    top row: left to right: engineer officers circa 1880; engineer/artillery officer cira 1890; infantry hessian regt circa 1900; infantry bavarian regt circa 1910

    bottom row: left to right: prussian infantry 1910; bavarian vet circa 1914; prussian infantry (possibly war time made field cap); saxon infantry (universal field cap) circa 1917.

    a very nice set can you take some close ups of the bavarian vet circa 1914 looks really nice

    There you go Tom as requested.....

    This one is made from high quality tricot and has a gold sink interior. The piping is carmine and it has a leather peak. The peak is covered on the outside with a protective lacquer which accounts for the scratches and marks on it.

    The chin strap is secured by sown on buttons and is the sliding type rather than the buckle.

    Other interesting point is the velvet cap band is sown together at the sides not at the rear of the cap as is usually found.

    I have to say i was very excited to get hold of this rare cap.......but maybe that's just me ?
