Pilot Portrait Picture with a difference..........
Hi
This picture I found by chance and to be honest I like it that much that I decided to post it on it's own thread.
There are two fabulous pieces of information contained within the insignia that allow us to identify the Officer not only as a pilot but also a member of the karpatenkorps under the command of the KUK 7th Army.
The insignia was only awarded to the 1st and 200th Infantry Divisions by the Austro-Hungarian Emperor and the Korps was deployed against the Russians from 1916.
The picture is dedicated on the reverse and the soldiers first name is August but I can't make out the surname. He was a Leutnant of the reserve.
cheers
Tony
