I especially like the wooden Box that looks to be original to it! Very nice cap!

A very nice piece of history in great condition given it's age. The little extras like the cap box and the documents make it even more special. Congratulations Pat.

    Hi Pat,
As already said great find. The inside of the cap reads :
    under the crown motif :
    military cap maker
    F Hausen
Torgau.............a little town on the Elbe.
If you are lucky the paperwork may indicate that either the man came from near there or the regt he was in may be based there.
    Nice cap
    tony
Thanks Tony, I think Adrian said that his reg (Nr. 72) was based in Torgau. So I guess he perhaps got his cap made there aswell.

    Thanks Ade,
A question but was musketier the ones who would have been in the field? I guess by the name he could be. Also could he perhaps have been in the Franco Prussian war?

Hi Pat, he served too late to be in the Franco Prussian war which was 1870-1871.

He was a rifleman. Rank of private.

    Cheers, Ade.
