Being sold on Ebay as Prussian 14th Hussar Reserve Officer Visor hat
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
"Prussian 14th Hussar Regt. (Landgraf Friedrich von Hessen Homburg - 2 Kur Hessen) Reserve Officer peaked hat. Beautiful formed hat in near mint condition. Blue cloth top with red band. White piping. Reich and Reserve Prussian cockades. Black visor. Sweat leather and green silk headliner. Beautiful and rare officers peaked hat."
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Needless to say, both of these 14th Hussars caps are missing the bottom row of white piping. Not for me, that's for certain.

Every single reference source I have, and there are many , always show three rows of piping, never just two. Some hussar regiments, of course, in feldgrau, have an additional row of colored piping above the top row for the cap band.
Are these caps converted from something else? I really have no idea.
IMO, this one was originally made with only the top 2 rings of piping--the bottom one was crudely added after the fact:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Ebay special:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Hat is real, but the cypher is not. Attributed to Franz Josef:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Another attributed to F-J:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Lovely cap, for, of course Husaren Regt.nr.16, Kaiser Franz-Josef was the colonel in chief of this regiment. I agree cypher is bogus.
Is this for sale anywhere? Thanks for showing it.
