1870 Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse, Type A Core, Wide Frame

Article about: Here is a new addition to my Imperial EK collection. I have been looking for a nice example of one of these for quite some time now. These are not commonly seen for sale, nor are they cheap.

The 25 year Jubilee spange could be bought and worn by anyone who
had earned the 1870 EK2 and was still alive in 1895.

The oaks were made by several different makers. There are roughly
20 known different variations. Plus several modern fakes. Most look
very close to each other with slight differences in font and patterns in
    the veins in the leafs.

Here are some of mine. Of the 5 that I have, only two match each other.

    Ralph,
I didn't mean to hijack your thread with pictures of oak leaves.

I am curious, what is the size of your 1870? I would like to compare
your wideframe against my AWS wideframe.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Thank for the additional info. Still being alive 25 years later is more logical. Here is my 1870.

No problem Greg, love those oaks!
If you ever need to get rid of one, keep me in mind.

Outside to outside it is 42.75 mm and from the inside of the beading to the outside edge is 3.85 mm
    Ralph.
