    Default 1914 Iron Cross ?

In 1971 someone in my family gave me what i have now learnt to be an iron cross. From a search on the internet, it does not look authentic. Can anyone tell me if it is, or exactly what it is? The crown on mine does not look like any that i can find picts of, and there is no W in the center of it. There was something, possibly a number on the back at the bottom; it is now too worn down to read. Any help would be appreciated. I am new to your forum, so please excuse me for not knowing something that you may think i should.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The cross is not an issue item. What size is it?

This is not my area of collecting. But it could possible be a "sweetheart" type item.

    Cheers, Ade.

Snowbird, Adrian is correct, sweetheart/patriotic item. During (and before!) the Great War a plethora of items were made featuring the Iron Cross, from jewellry to candy boxes . What is the size of your cross?

These things were novelty items made in the 1960s and early 70s.
They were very popular with surfers and bikers.
They can still be found on ebay and in a variety of colors

Hi Greg, trust you to know about them, what with being a biker and an EK collector.

    Cheers, Ade.

Ok thanks Gentlemen. I appreciate the info. It measures 2 7/8" square, so it is rather large. I did take some better photos of it. I will try to upload them; since i am new to this forum, that may take a moment.
