1918 Gebrüder Gnüchtel Medic Canteen?
Article about: I have come across a WWI/Postwar medic's canteen that I am trying to confirm the manufacturer. Both the cup and neck of the canteen are stamped "G. GNUCHTEL 18." I have seen helmet

Yes, they did make canteens in WWI and again in WWII, as well as helmets and other mess gear. In 1900 the company did business as Gebrüder Gnüchtel, Sächsische Emaillier- und Stanzwerke (Brothers Gnüchtel, Saxon enameling and stamping), and in 1914 it acquired the Allgemeine deutsche Aluminium-Kochgeschirr-Fabrik (General German aluminum cookware factory). The latter made the canteens. This is a photo of the sort of canteen they made, which I believe is exactly like yours with the cover removed. Dwight
