Hello Australia. Maybe try placing a piece of paper on the backside and do a pencil rubbing a lot of times the transfer will be easier to read? Also I ve used baby powder flour or chalk dust (if letters are indented) and brush away the excess the contrast should make it easier to read. Manufacturer I.d. may tell you more about the origins of the piece? Either way I like it! Neat curiousity piece. Congrats and good luck. Regards.
