    Interesting piece Marc,
It is fake. A true Frankenstein cross made up
    of different bits.

My guess is that someone took apart a "Jubilee" era
    1870 (made post 1895)
and then turned it into a 1st class cross. That might
explain the hardware used on the back. Made to look
repaired but in fact just made up. I can say that it
is not a Wagner. The core details are all wrong and I do
not like the Wagner marks on the back.

Any time you see a Wagner marked 1870, warning bells
should go off. A true Wagner marked cross would be
the hallmark of any collection and the fakers know that.
In all the years I've been doing this, I think I may have
only seen 1 or maybe 2 originals ever posted. But fakes
    abound.

    Thanks for posting it.

Amazing what people go trough, to make money !
I thought the stamp looked funny , right text but wrong stamp ! And also the mysterious "repaired" mechanic :-/

I surf eBay every once in and a while. I'm glad this forum exists or I'd probably be spending some hard earned money on a lot of fakes.
    Best regards

It's hard to tell from the horrible pictures about
the details but the hooks are wrong.

Yes, I know, but it was just another eBay example, that to me looked like the same stamp on the back ! Sorry, not my pics :-/. But maybe part of the sales tactic ;-)

Someday I hope to find a Wagner marked ek1.
(wouldn't we all ) but in all honesty, I would settle for most
    any authentic 1870 1st class.
