Antique sword - need some help

    I could be entirely mistaken, but my gut feeling
    is that it is an Indian made copy of a German
    sword. Hilt brass is porous and lacks
    definition, IMO.

    Ideally, there should be a mark or markings
    under one of the langets - the rounded
    shield looking parts on either side
    of the blade.........

    If it is an original piece, it has been heavily cleaned
    and polished. I notice there is an etch on the
    blade, which may be trying to give an
    impression of quality, but a lot of it
    is ground off.........

    I would agree with Steve. A very post-war copy that has been poorly but heavily aged. The brass particularly looks terrible.

    That "brass" definition would not pass manufacturing inspection ...
    Looks to be a cast copy ..

    i'll just add a few pics (dont have a decent camera, even these days)

    i aswell will ad pictures of another blade, wich was part of the same heritage.
