    Hello,

I have found this uniform but it is not my area of expertise so I was hoping some folks here could shed some light on its authenticity or lack thereof.

    Thanks in advance!

Imperial is not really my subject, but I have never seen an original tunic made of that style of cotton twill material.

    Cheers, Ade.

I agree-the cloth looks Far newer than WWI. Imperial uniforms were generally heavier and coarser materials. The buttons are very shiny also-not a good indicator of being 100 year old brass. The Cap is possible, but the photo is too blurry for any definitive identification.

A modern reproduction, no doubt about it. And not a very good one either.

The shoulder straps are 100% good and appear to be from the I.R.47, which are among the most common to find German model 1915 enlisted cyphered shoulder straps. This regiment faced American divisions on several occasions starting in July of 1918, thus the abundance of souvenir straps.

The photos of the cap and the tunic don't show enough to make a good assessment. Certainly, the straps do not belong on this jacket.
