Very interesting. It looks to be a "neighborhood watch" armband.

    Not really.

Formed in 1919 and finally disbanded in 1921, the paramilitary Einwohnerwehren were fully armed volunteer citizen militias functioning in an internal security role. They were supplied with arms and materiel by the armed forces and functioned as a "black" army reserve. As such, they had a closer resemblance to the Freikorps of the era than to any neighborhood watch organization.

In May 1920, the Einwohnerwehren in the state of Bavaria alone had a total strength of more than 300,000 men, armed with rifles, pistols, machine guns and even some artillery.

Thank you for the info I merely took the "Einwohnerwehren" to be a sort of "einwohner guard". 300.000 is quite a neighborhood watch. Thank you for setting the record straight.

    Regards, Lars
