Appears to be a Bavarian Court Sword...a better look at the coat of arms on the clam shell would be helpful...but it appears original...
cheers, Glenn

Thanks Glenn. I will take some close up pics when I get home tonight.
Does anyone know the rough age on this?
So I am thinking $50 was a pretty good deal on it then?

Looks nice. I would guess purely by the style for it to be late 1800s, but I'm not sure.

I'm more inclined to believe that this is a WWI (1914-18) era sword...I look forward to the other photos and more opinions from our experienced blade collectors...this could get educational...!
cheers, Glenn

I sure hope so!
At least it didn't come with a story that it belonged to a Bavarian Corporal. LOL
A guess the blind rat find the cheese every now and then.
Looking forward to more info. Thanks.

The knight's head trademark was that of W. R. Kirschbaum & Cie - they merged in 1883 with Weyersberg to form Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie., so logically it should pre-date the merger.
The other name - Lorenz Stanko will be the retailer or distributor.
The sword is some of Court or State officials pattern - can't be any more precise than that I'm afraid.
In Treue Fest - the Bavarian State motto.
