I have never seen it in person but I have seen it referenced
    in several threads.

    Greetings Marc,

Far from my area of expertise, but what I have noticed with most reference materials/books if you wait too long when they are available they either dry up fast as they get "sold out" or get even more expensive as dealers buy out the book's entire stock to re-sell. That said, I found the first critique of the book here rather amusing (what little German I could understand) DAS EISERNE KREUZ - Von seinem Ursprung bis zur Gegenwart: Amazon.de: Harald Geißler: Bücher clearly the reviewer did not like the book and instead of just saying it was a dog, he had some fun going into detail why it was a poor book.

    Regards,

    Lance

The book was published in 1995. We have learned a
    lot about Eks sense then.

In my on opinion "The Iron Time" was the the best book
ever published on Imperial crosses but even that one
    has mistakes in it .

    Hi Marc,
I think you will like it.
Me and a few others on another forum sent several PMs
to the author after the first book came out and he took
out most of the crosses that we could proof were fakes.
    ( there were only 3 or 4 )

It does not go into great detail about specific makers but
it does have a great history of the iron cross in all it's
grades and the pictures are wonderful. (including one
    of mine)

    Wouv, sounds good :-)

I really miss the mentioned details about makers, but I haven't found anything that covers it .
I guess the only way is keep on collecting and learn by doing ;-) and watch the forum !!

Ps I will try to spot your picture ;-)

There is a book in the works that will show most
of the 1914 Eks in all of there variations. It has been
in the works for a couple of years now and will
probably be another year before it is published.

I know that many of the cross collectors on the
WAF and GMIC forums have donated close up
detailed shots to the project. It should be a
great reference once it comes out.

There is a book by "Wernitz" that just came out this last year.
It is supposed to be very very detailed. I have not seen it
but I think Miro has referenced it in one of his posts.

I do not have the title so you may have to do some digging
but I am told it is a good book. It was published in Germany
and I think is now available in English as well.

IMO, books are a great starting point but it is some of the
forums like this one that really help the collector. Just
look at all of the threads where we have looked at specific
makers marks or zoomed in on crown details or dates, ect.
No book is going to cover all of that.

Granted our imperial forum here is really pretty small and limited
to just a few members who actually contribute. But there are
other resources available and with the internet we are constantly
    learning and growing.
