some people clean or even polish their medals so anything is possible.
Looking for following WWII German items:
- anything dealing with Allenstein (Olsztyn) and Wehrkreis I in East Prussia,
- entrenching tool carrier (straight and folding),
- forestry and hunting items,

...or not to clean.
Kevin...DO NOT CLEAN ! do not even attempt to clean, you will destroy the finish, it looks to be gilt washed, you will render it totally valueless ! look at what is under the gilt ....a base metal, if you clean, that is what you will reveal, the award was gilded when originally made....
Prost ! Steve.
"The German Army is the perfectly adapted, perfectly running Machine. The difference is that the Germans are organised with a view to War...with the cold, hard, practical and business-like purpose of winning victories."

hi steve i would not clean it ,thats how it was my thoughts were a new repro but i think its ok ....kev
Maybe it's clean, but it's certainly got wear!
I assumed that you were asking if you should clean this medal and after your last reply I now assume you are asking if it's an original or not, is that correct?
I believe he meant too clean? instead of to clean?
"Too clean" and "To clean", that was the reason of all the reactions
