Horst, super stein, what is the dedication/name on it ?....nice M1860 style Pickelhaube on lid !...looks to have a Guard Star/Grenadier type eagle on it.

The dedication/name reads:"Otto Holtz 12 - 10-1886" - Yes, the helmet has the eagle with a star burst.

A very nice stein indeed, Horst, and a departure from so many of the 'ceramic' ones we see.

Thanks fellas - I agree alot more character and not easy to find, although most collectors of these steins like the more colorful ceramic types.

Wonderful personal item Horst. Like many have already stated, definitely has character. Fortunately for Otto Holtz, life placed him in the service of the German Army at a peaceful time.
