RedArmyCollector your "Ehrenkreuz for Frontkampfer" (Honour Cross for combatants) also known as the "Hindenburg Cross" is made by the "Reichsverband" (Metalurgst association) of Pforzheim, known marks from this maker are from R.V.1 thro to R.V.91. Though not an Imperial award, awarded between 1934 and 1945, during the Third Reich period.
    Prost ! Steve.

This is a medal that most begin with, as one journeys down the German/Imperial
Awards road. I got one of these back in the mid 70's, and it was also
    my first 'Imperial' award.

As 'Ouradour' Steve has said above, not an Imperial award per se, but was
instituted in 1934 by President Paul von Hindenberg for veterans and
relatives of WWI service people. There are three types:
combatants, participants, and next of kin.

The 'sanctioning' of this commemorative medal was one of the very last
things that Hindenberg did while in office - July 13 1934 -
He died August 2, that same year.
    Regards,

    Steve.

Of interest, perhaps, is that the full name for this maker is Reichsverband Arbeitsgemeinschaft Heinrich Vogt, Pforzheim. This was always abbreviated to R V Pforzheim for the Hindenburg Crosses.
