Default Eisernes Kreuz 2 Klasse 1914 - marked Wilm.

    Marking: Wilm
    Maker: H.R. Wilm
    Location: Berlin

Is it possible that it is that well [IMO] presereved, or someone helped it, by cleaning it?

The only thing that I see is what looks to be a cracked core, under the W. Quite clean beading, and more or less evenly covered frame.

    It lacks ribbon.

    /Edit.

Seller denied cleaning, or touching it in any way.

I would say that this has been cleaned. Yes, it does have a cracked core.
Here are my two examples to compare.

Have you been doing anything with yours? The last one, looks fairly clean.

    I do not clean mine.
Actually, after having another look at the one you posted, it looks fine to me except for the crack.

The frame looks fine. The core looks as if it might have been repainted.
If it was, whoever did it, did a very fine job.

Like Ralph, I prefer not to clean or polish my crosses except to remove
    any loose dirt or rust.
