    Looks like a "KO" to me. Did you check for a maker's mark? most KOs were
    stamped directly below the catch however unmarked examples are not uncommon.
    "KO" is still an unknown maker but a lot of us believe that these were the make of crosses
    that were awarded to the troops.

    I can't be much help with any information about the case.

    I agree with Greg. Nice to see that dark patina, meaning that the cross
    has not been cleaned - if at all - for many, many years.........
