Hi all, I am considering the purchase of this EK1 and wanted expert opinion on its authenticity as a true WW1 era medal.

One thing I noticed that gives me pause, is the crown.
On the lower part of this one, there are only 4 raised pimples.
On another cross I have, which has been authenticated by chopperman and others, there are 6 of these pimples.

Did different mfgs put different numbers of these pimples.

I have circled the part of the crown I am referring to in red in the last picture below.
I apologize that the circle is not more noticeable and the placement of the picture in the picture stack.

    Thanks for your help...

    I agree completely. Nice cross.

Manufacture's used a bit of "artistic license" when it came to the details of
the core designs. That is a good thing for us because it helps us to put
a maker to a cross. There were many different styles used and some makers
used several different designs ( KO used at least 3)

Off the top of my head, I can't put a name to yours but with some digging I may
    be able to.

Here is a small example of some different crown styles------

Chopper, the depth of your knowledge never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks to both you and bigmacglenn for your information and I am very glad that this one passed muster.

    Many Thanks,

I happy to help where I can. Really, all I am doing is answering
the same questions that I asked several year ago. I'm just paying it forward.
