I obtained this EK2 from my Great Uncle who participated in WW1 as well as WW2. It looks like the letter "W" is marked on the ring. Any info on this WW1 EK2 would be greatly appreciated.

Congrates on a nice original Iron Cross.
The makers mark is one that we have seen before but unfortunately we still can not put
a name to the manufacture. My personnel opinion and one held by some other collectors
is that the mark is "I V I". Most of the known makers that use a W or M, the mark is small enough
that you can easily distinguish what it is. That is never the case with this particular mark.
I hope this helps some-----
