    Hello
I bought a week ago this M16 attic found together with a adrianhelmet on the Ebay Kleinanzeigen
All it seem to be used
The chinstrap and liner were in relative good condition, but the splitpins were missing

It seem to be one of the first 30.000 helmets made by thale with the sqare dip
It was made by ET size 64
    The strap is complete
The liner is marked too 64
    Is it true?
What do you say to this beauty
    I hope you enjoy it

It is NOT an M-34. It is an M-18.

He said it's an M16, if you read his post correctly, he was just referring to the "square dip" bearing similarity to M34 helmets.

    Nice helmet by the way!
Maybe you can still find some decent condition original split pins to complete it.

    Thanks a lot
I bought it together with an italian adrianhelmetshell for 160€ include shipping
If I found some splitpins i wound complete it
I would say thats really cheap for a complete Squaredip M16 and i know shells were extreme rare and complete examples would be nearly unfindable and unpayable

Congratulations Bavarian! That is a rare helmet that doesn’t come up very often. You are 100% correct that is it an M16 square dip helmet. For me the “holy grail” of Imperial Steel. A swift redesign of the shell took place soon after it’s introduction to service in order to eradicate a design fault that saw cracks form at the point where the front visor dips down to the rear. Are there any cracks apparent on your example?

You are very lucky to get one with full liner and strap and nice and salty as well. Once again, congratulations - you’ve done very well!

From what I have read there were only around ~30k made.

I really think this helmet needs nice clear high resolution photos.

And maybe even as a new thread with the proper title. It will draw more attention to the members that would be very interested in seeing this. (Or you could as a Mod to change your thread title.)
