Flyiing helmet and goggles for consideration

Article about: While I don't as a rule collect first war stuff, I recently bought this German leather flying cap.( at least I think I did ) It is a Black/blue colour rather than the brown often encountered

    While I don't as a rule collect first war stuff, I recently bought this German leather flying cap.( at least I think I did )
    It is a Black/blue colour rather than the brown often encountered. It has the neck flap and the right style of snaps ( not Prym though ) and a wool lining. No makers mark to be seen......

    Also the goggles - are they period? The body / lens is celluloid-like material and they have a anti-glare zone at the top. Too fragile and lightweight to be dispatch or vehicle goggles, has anyone seen ones like this.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated fellas!

    Can't comment on the cap or googles but I like the mannaquin head!!!!

    They both look good Dan Haven't collected much WW1 have a friend that has a whole caboose of it that one matches the German WW1 flyers helmet he has his is marked 1917 but some weren't marked he said Goggles also look like WW1 era flying ones. Nice set. timothy

    quite a common style of leather helmet and goggles forthe period 1910 to1940.

    I guess a lot of ww1 gear was common to other "magnificent men" of the time?

    No Tim, the lenses are not removable. They are two pieces of molded or vacuum formed celluloid that pinches the fur and holds it in place around the rim. Thanks for the photos - mine looks like the cap second from last.
