    the medal looks to be in brilliant condition to be nigh on 100years old but i can't see why you would fake em as there relativly common shouldn't reach £100 cos thats just stupid

    Even with these markings, which I've seen before,
    WWI EKII's still average around $70/$80........

    The "R" marked crosses are not all that common but I certainly would not
    call them rare. The mark on the small ring is thought to be used for quality
    control by that maker. There are a few other makers that have been known
    to use similar markings either on the small ring or in the case of a Ek1, on the
    underside of the pin near the hinge block.

    I would not pay any extra for a cross because of the quality control stamp.

    I agree with Greg, I have a couple of Imperials with the extra mark and did not pay anymore for them than I would for a regular marked cross.
