German Pickelhaube - Please help with info
Hello,
I picked this one up on ebay for under $300.
I do not know a lot about these so any info would be appreciated.
Also how did I do on price?
What do I need to complete it?
I think I need at least one cockade (looks like there is one on the helmet)
I have to repair the rear portion
I have to get a chinstrap.
Anything else?

A little spit and shine and some thread and you'll have a nice display piece.

I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
The body isn't badly out of shape or broken and the liner is present. As said, a province cockade and some gentle clean and shine and you'll have a nice looking helmet. Best have a pro do the rear visor stitching, though, as 100 year old leather can be extremely touchy to work on. I wouldn't hold out much hope for finding a period chinstrap-most collectors if they need one are going to the aged replica straps. $300 is not a bad price at all. I've seen far worse conditioned for more. Nice find from out of the eBay jungle!

A 1895 Prussian enlisted mans Haube. Some TLC and that should make a nice display. Good luck on the cockardes and chin straps search!!!
The pic's are very dark and it made it hard to Zoom in . Are there any markings on the inside of it???

I agree with the above comments. IMO, a helmet like this
is a perfect choice - first for getting it at a reasonable
price, and second - spending a couple of enjoyable
hours restoring it to it's former glory.
Without going overboard cleaning it, it will end up
a very respectable 100 year old Helmet.........

Appears to have a mix of parts? Front visor trim is brass but rear spine is M1915 silvered steel?
It's hard to say for sure-it May be the lighting, as other parts have a yellow tint in some of the shots too. Zinc plated brass? The wappen seems to be.

Will be good to see in better light. Get a couple original cockades (not too hard to source), a nice aged c/s and she wil be a beauty!

I agree it is hard to tell from the photos (gold vs grey).
It looks like all gold parts to me but hard to tell from the ebay pics.
I only paid $265 shipped so I figured I would take a chance.
I have these two cockades but I believe they would be wrong as they are for an officer's Pickelhaube, am I right?
I will be posting them in another thread for info as I may be selling them and I need more info.
Buy your self some small leather needles. They have 3 edged tips. The needles won't do damage to the leather if used carefully.
