    Hi guys ,

I came across this long wanted trench knife.
I was offered a mint/unused example with a more "shiny" scabbard, but preferred this one "been there" thing !
I hope you like it too :-)
My question is, can anybody tell me what the small stamp on the reverse side of the blade means ? Is it an "abname"( issue) stamp or ....?

    Greetings Marc,

We would call the stamp (In this case the letter “C”) an acceptance stamp, it’s known as a “fraktur” mark. It indicates that the item so stamped was accepted by an official inspector as meeting the minimal acceptance standards for the vendor/manufacturer/contractor to receive full payment from the Imperial German Government. Nice knife, thanks for sharing it with us.

    Regards,

    Lance

I would like one to display with my butcher bayonets
